Born in 1972, Jigme studied thangka painting in Mugu with his maternal uncle, master Urgen Lama. In 2006, he had his first solo exhibition in Jumla. He also participated in a number of art exhibitions, completions, festivals, and fairs organized by NAFA, the Federation of Handicraft Association Nepal, and others, including the Rara Festival (2007), the Hanumandhoka Handicraft Fair (2007), and the Jumla Festival (2007). He received first place at the Jumla festival (2007). In 2018, he was honored with the Province Award from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Nepal. NAFA presented him with the Special Award in 2021, and the Lalit Kala Summan Award in 2022.
