Hajar Singh (1958) was ordained and apprenticed to his village household monk Krishna Bahadur Lama when he was 12 years old, and so began his journey as a Buddhist practitioner and thangka apprentice. Later, he honed his skills under the tutelage of his own uncle, Dal Bahadur Lama. After that, he collaborated with a group of well-known artists of the period, Ashal Man Lama, Chewang Lama, Dilli Man Lama, and Saila Lama. He established his own atelier at the age of 20 and founded his own thangka shop at the age of 28. He presently resides in Maharajgunj and relishes collecting thangka paintings.
