About The Thangka

Introduction

This is a personal design and artwork by Hajar Singh Lama that portrays the pledge of Guru Padmasambhava to uplift all sentient beings. The painting depicts the Guru Mandala and his eight manifestations. The center of the mandala represents the top view of a three-dimensional square palace. The Lotus Born Guru Padmasambhava is encircled within a circle of multicolored lotus, along with his consorts Mandarava (left) and Yeshe Tsogyal (right). The palace floor is decorated with exquisite floral patterns and divided into four colors: red, green, blue and orange. The outer space of the mandala palace is embellished with a variety of decorative elements and auspicious offerings. The palace is encircled by an earth circle, followed by a lotus circle, a ring of eight great charnel grounds, a circle of thunderbolt (Vajra) and a multicolored circle of wisdom fire. At the bottom are four emanations of Guru: Shakya Sengge, Sebge Dradog, Dorje Drolo and Nyima Oser (left to right). Similarly, Loden Chogse, Urgyan Dorje Chang, Pema Jungne, and Pema Gyalpo (left to right) are at the top with Buddha Amitabha at the center. At the topmost is Buddha Samantabhadra with his consort Samantabhadri.
